Diving
Applications
One of the most common applications for Scorpion products is for
the diving industry. We currently export goods to over 40
countries and the majority of customers service the diving
industry. This company supplies a number of products to this
market including cables, ropes, connectors, polyurethane Twinpacks,
mould tools and various cable termination accessories.
In recent times we have found that most contractors seem to be
returning to an industry favourite, namely Souriau ‘M’ series
connectors, formerly known as ‘Jupiter’. Most professional diving
companies standardise on ‘M’ series due to their ruggedness,
reliability, field installability (no moulding required), compact
size and competitive pricing. Scorpion Oceanics (exclusive UK
distributor) currently stocks a vast number of these marine bronze
connectors.
Rubber moulded connectors are also regularly provided and as the
UK stockist and distributor for Birns Inc, we are pleased to
supply the best quality product on the market. Birns range
includes the Mini-Aquamate, Standard In-Lines and 5500 series
among many others. Birns produce a large number of bespoke
connector designs for specialist applications including underwater
plasma cutting and connectors for heated diving suits.
An important market for Scorpion Oceanics is ‘stealth’ diving.
This company, in close liaison with the equipment manufacturer,
helped to design a pair of completely ‘non-magnetic’
Connectors used for mine-clearance purposes. Scorpion Oceanics has
also supplied a number of special moulded cable harnesses for use
in diver helmet assemblies.
