Mouldings
Scorpion Oceanics is able to offer Polyethylene and Polyurethane
mouldings. The bonding of Polyethylene to metal substrates has
always been an extremely specialised process and the company has
invested in plant and machinery to undertake Polyethylene
moulding. This process is used extensively in military
applications, especially on hydrophones and connector systems for
long term immersion.
Mouldings for the termination of cables incorporating tow hitches,
multi-way break-outs and connector over mouldings are available,
together with the encapsulation of electronic packages including
hydrophones etc.
Polyurethane in varying degrees of hardness and flexibility can be
supplied to suit the substrate and application. Polyurethane
‘twin-packs’, mould tools, primers, release agents and other
moulding accessories, together with wire capping compounds for the
termination of steel and non-metallic strength members, are also
normally available from stock.
Scorpion
Oceanics have experienced technicians able to
undertake mouldings and terminations on-site and offshore if
required.
Polyethylene and Polyurethane can be applied to many substrates
commonly
found in underwater applications including:
