Terminations
Scorpion Oceanics design many terminations in a variety of
materials for cables, umbillicals and ropes. Terminations can
incorporate several services where required, including electrical
power and signal, optical fibres, mechanical, hydraulic and
pneumatic connections.
Materials selected are chosen to suit the application and budget.
Typically stainless steel or marine bronze is used extensively for
underwater electro/mechanical cables and most terminations also
incorporate Polyurethane or Polyethylene overmouldings. Other
termination materials are available, including acetal, nylon and
titanium etc.
Moulded bend restrictors and universal joints are often supplied
on systems subject to severe handling in harsh environments.
Moulded break-outs for use with connectors fitted to cable tails
are regularly supplied.
Ropes are generally terminated with eye splices formed from the
rope itself and can be reinforced with metal thimbles etc. All
terminations can be designed to suit customers particular
requirements. Additionally, hydrostatic, tensile and fatigue
testing can be undertaken if required. |
