Test Facility
Scorpion Oceanics has a hydrostatic pressure test facility
available for hire. The system is capable of testing connectors
and cable harnesses to >1700 Bar (25,000 psi). It will complement
Scorpion’s existing hydrostatic pressure testing facilities,
bringing the number of pressure vessels to three.
The system incorporates an ingenious ‘quarter turn’ sealing cap,
reducing the cycle time between different jobs to an absolute
minimum. The system also has the benefit of a motorised hoist for
raising and lowering the sealing cap. Internal chamber dimensions
are 500 mm high x 200 mm diameter, although a future development
for low pressure testing will increase the length significantly.
Many safety devices have been included to ensure maximum operator
safety.
The company has already noticed significant advantages since the
acquisition. Previously goods for hydrostatic pressure testing
were sent to a third party ‘test house’, often having to send an
engineer to accompany the goods and witness tests. Now the tests
take place in house as and when needed and not when others can
accommodate them. Customers will also benefit from the savings in
third party charges and administration.
Scorpion’s hydrostatic pressure test facility is available to
